Our menu is carefully crafted to preserve Southern soul food traditions while incorporating international flavors in unexpected but delicious ways. Our “fusion soul food” is made with love to join people of different tongues and tastes around The Preservery’s familial table.
The Preservery sources food from Alabama farmers, farmers’ markets, and food artisans through REV Birmingham's Urban Food Project to create a menu that changes with the seasons. Join The Preservery on our mission to #SaveOurSoul!
Chef Andrea Foster's love of cooking stems from time spent with her father in the kitchen, where they would often daydream about opening a restaurant together. Chef Dre lost her father to pancreatic cancer in 2016, but never the dream. He always told his daughter, ‘You can achieve anything you set your mind to." - and so she is.
In addition to being a passionate chef, Dre is a devoted wife and mother of two amazing children.
Chef Dre got her culinary start catering private dinners and events and doing popups such as Birmingham Restaurant Week's Harvest Brunch. Dre, a BIZ 1.0 and CO.STARTERS alum, also did an apprenticeship at Little Savannah.
Her next step is a big move toward a more permanent space. In early February 2018, Chef Dre began occupying REV Birmingham's REVeal Kitchen stall in The Pizitz Food Hall for a short-term lease. After a successful reception in The Pizitz Food Hall Chef Dre is moving her elevated soul food fusion to the heart of Five Points South. The Preservery continues to cater special events.
